Samyang announced that it hosted a customer seminar on September 8 at Josun Palace Seoul Gangnam, inviting approximately 200 R&D professionals from food manufacturers.

Held under the theme of “Specialty Food Solutions,” the seminar was designed to share rapidly evolving food market trends and showcase Samyang’s latest R&D achievements in sugar reduction and functional ingredients, as well as its expanded specialty solution capabilities through global collaboration.

The seminar consisted of five sessions covering global low-sugar trends and sugar reduction solutions, stevia solutions presented by Samyang’s partner, crystalline dietary fiber Kestose, functional research findings, and Soda Aromatic’s flavor business and solutions.

A key highlight of the seminar was Kestose, a crystalline prebiotic ingredient under Samyang’s dietary fiber brand Fibernova®. Kestose is a high-purity crystalline dietary fiber containing more than 99% fructooligosaccharides (FOS). Its crystalline form and low hygroscopicity enable applications in food categories where moisture management can make the use of conventional dietary fiber ingredients challenging.

In response to the growing “fiber-maxxing” trend of increasing dietary fiber intake, Samyang presented solutions using Kestose for both fiber enrichment and sugar reduction, along with application examples across beverages, snacks, confectionery and other food categories.

Experts from Samyang’s global partner and overseas affiliate also participated as speakers, sharing their technological expertise and insights into global food market trends.

PureCircle by Ingredion, a global stevia specialist and Samyang’s long-standing partner in Korea, explained the characteristics of stevia and its differentiated solution technologies based on consumer insights. The company also introduced real-world product applications demonstrating how stevia can be effectively incorporated into food and beverage formulations.

Soda Aromatic, which recently joined Samyang Group, presented its flavor portfolio and application examples for a wide range of food and beverage products. The company also highlighted its advanced flavor analysis technologies and capabilities in developing flavor solutions that help compensate for changes in taste and aroma that can occur in sugar-reduced products.

Jisuk Chung, Head of the Food Business Unit at Samyang Corporation, said, “As consumers increasingly seek products that deliver both great taste and better nutrition, the ability to develop products that satisfy both needs is becoming more important than ever. We hope this seminar helps our customers define their product development strategies and explore new possibilities. Samyang will continue to support our customers in strengthening their competitiveness through differentiated ingredients and technologies.”

Meanwhile, Samyang continues to expand its portfolio of specialty food ingredients, centered on allulose and dietary fiber ingredients.

Allulose is a sugar reduction ingredient that provides approximately 70% of the sweetness of sucrose while contributing virtually zero calories. Samyang’s dietary fiber portfolio includes Kestose and resistant dextrin.

Resistant dextrin is a soluble dietary fiber that may help support bowel regularity, manage postprandial blood glucose levels, and improve blood triglyceride profiles. Available in both liquid and powder forms, it offers high water solubility and low viscosity, allowing it to be used across a wide range of applications, including health functional foods, beverages, dairy products, gummies, sauces and syrups.
